Lion, tigers, and monkeys! Oh my! How fun it is to host a baby shower! And picking a theme is my favorite part of planning the shower. You can really go crazy once a theme is set. Now, if you are wanting a simple, fun get together, plan a sandwich tray, cake and punch. But it you want to go all out, choose a theme a get set for a night of fun the mother- to- be, and her friends, will never forget!
Let’s begin with a jungle theme baby shower. This theme goes well with a girl or boy. For colors, green could be the first choice. If the baby is a boy, then your second color could be brown. A table would look really nice in a green tablecloth and brown paper plates and cups. Or vice -versa. Decorate with monkeys, giraffes, lions, even green snakes! For a girl, you can add a touch of pink by using pink plates and cups and decorating with pink flamingos.
Place lots and lots of greenery every where, especially around the guest of honors seat. Twinkling light add a fun element and emulate the night sky of a jungle. If you have an indoor water fountain, that would truly add to the jungle/rain forest atmosphere.
Jungle games should be a natural part of a wild animal shower. Charades, or Pictionary would be fun. The guests can guess either jungle animal names, movies, books, or songs with animal themes. If you have a large screen TV close by, stick a jungle movie, such as Tarzan, Curious George, or Madagascar in the DVD player. Rain forest sounds can be playing on a CD.
The menu can be fun and easy to plan for a jungle theme! Monkey bread, banana nut bread, salad, bear claws, elephant ears, wild animal roll ups (turkey, spinach, cream cheese) and rain forest refreshing punch all have a jungle theme name. You could simply make up names to match your food if you wanted: Python pudding, flamingo fiesta salad, crazy boar appetizers, etc. Be creative and have fun!
Door prizes can follow the theme with animal print anything! Notebooks, calendars, socks. Also, animal pictures would make cute gifts.
As for the gift for the mother and baby, a rain forest theme gift basket would look nice as a center piece on the gift table. All
gifts need not be jungle themed, but a center piece would look lovely and add a personalized accent the mother to be will always remember.
Most important, HAVE FUN!! Did you do something special at your jungle themed baby shower? Share it with me, please!
